Workshop participants tour heritage sites in the Delta
CLEVELAND―Participants in last week’s workshop entitled “The Most Southern Place on Earth: Music, History and Culture of the Mississippi Delta” came from 23 different states from across the nation.
Tour highlights included stops in Scott, where the levee broke in the 1927 flood, the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, Dockery Farms, the Sumner Court House, the Chinese graveyard and Jewish temple in
Another version of the workshop will be presented in July, and participants in the combined workshops will have come from 43 states and two foreign countries to visit the Delta.
Many of the participants testified that the workshop changed their views of the Delta for the better.
